Programs at PCC
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."
Matthew 25:35-36

Sunday WorshipPCC’s worship reflects the open and relational nature of the congregation: people come as they are, laugh as well as praise together, and newcomers sense they're welcomed right away. It feels like a community in worship, not a formal exercise. The hour-and-fifteen-minute service typically brings together elements of classic adoration—hymns, Psalms, readings, and confession—with an impromptu time of sharing prayer requests as the Spirit leads. Worship is designed to speak to hearts and lives and lift up Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Every Sunday, the pastor’s message aims to bring the biblical passage to the worshipper in a relatable, Christ-centered fashion. PCC worshippers sense the intersection of their church with the surrounding community and its needs, and bring local and individual concerns in their requests for prayer. The church hopes to make the presence of Christ in its worship be felt in Granby, Southwick and beyond.

2nd MileOn many Sundays, worshippers are invited to go “an extra mile” with Pastor Matt to discuss implications of his message more in-depth. This informal gathering meets in the library over a light lunch. People bring observations to the conversation, questions for clarification, and items stirred in their thoughts. The meeting lasts for about forty-five minutes.

Thursday Morning Bible StudyFor one hour, Pastor Matt engages a group of adults in an inductive exploration of a passage of Scripture. Most studies tackle a book of the Bible. Recent studies have included Ruth—Fall 2022, and Galatians—Winter and Spring, 2023.

Youth BreakfastThroughout the school year and into the summer, senior high students gather in Jackson Hall (the gym) to make and eat a hearty breakfast and to talk about God. Morning times vary. Contact Youth Director Casey Janser and Youth Associate Billy Langdon for more information.

Worship ChoirLed by church accompanist Becky Bossi, the worship choir sings on Sundays throughout the Fall, Winter and Spring. Special emphasis is placed on the Advent and Lenten seasons. Practices average two Wednesday nights per month (7-8 pm) and on Sunday mornings when the choir sings in worship.

Fellowship EventsWhether it’s a Sunday Brunch, Christmas party and caroling, women’s tea, a men’s campfire, a summer trip to the lake, or a Swedish Pancake breakfast, the church finds many ways to be a community of support and encouragement. Older and newer attenders gather with friends old and new.

The Agape Prayer FellowshipThe mission of the Agape Prayer Fellowship is to gather the current prayer concerns of PCC into a comprehensive list, borrowing from the prayer chain and Sunday morning requests, and allowing the Holy Spirit to move hearts during the prayer time. Then, on the second and forth Sundays of the month, members of the fellowship meet to lift up these concerns in a half-hour of conversational prayer. The group meets via Zoom and phone.
