“For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” —Jeremiah 29:11.

In the spring of 2009, the Church Council commissioned a Vision Committee to lead the development of Pilgrim Covenant Church’s strategic plan for the future. With a foundation in prayer, and supported by full congregational involvement, the Vision Committee sought to discern His will for the direction and the vision for Pilgrim Covenant Church. Surveys collected information used to assess our strengths and our weaknesses, focus groups brainstormed and acted as sounding boards for ideas, and we reached out to the community to listen to the expressed needs and concerns beyond our church walls.

The outcome is a three- to five-year Strategic Plan to guide the growth of our church in expressing His call as we have heard it. This Strategic Plan will be implemented by the Church Council and the various ministries with support from the Vision Committee and the congregation. Our plan focuses on the following key areas:

• Increase focus on Missions and Outreach (both local and afar)
• Revitalize Children’s Ministry
• Enhance Leadership
• Improve Communication

So now it is time to put our words and thoughts into action. We would encourage each of you to find an aspect of the Strategic Plan that has a special meaning for you. Through your efforts we will bring to life as a church body this “hope and a future” that God has promised to us as we continue to do His work in our community and the world.
