Helping Others

Senior High Youth MissionAs every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God–1 Peter 4:10.

Serving others deepens your relationship with God and with people. Whether helping to serve meals in a soup kitchen, writing letters for a cold seafarer, or in service to the church family, you will grow closer to the Lord, those you serve, and those who serve with you.

At Pilgrim Covenant Church, we have a vital, active community spirit and evangelical mission program. We provide many opportunities for you to act in service to the Lord to help those in your church family, the community, and the world-wide family of Christ.

Doing work for God and seeing people open their hearts to Christ is an experience that shouldn’t be missed. Here are some comments from the inmates of the Stony Brook Correctional Facility in Ludlow, Mass., received after the October 2011 Residents Encounter Christ Prison Ministry mission:

I knew I was gonna have a good experience – but this was a great experience!

Sometimes we feel like we’re lost; you all came in and made us feel like somebody cared for us.

You guys made us see something that we thought wasn’t there.

I just met you guys yesterday, and you’re not strangers – you’re my friends.

I wanted to kill myself when I came to jail. This weekend was really what I needed – it saved my life!

I haven’t seen my family for 9 months…thanks for all the hugs!

It’s so good to be able to share laughter and joy!

It’s a good feeling when you’ve got a lot of people who love you.

Thank you for making me feel welcome.

I read in the Bible that God will change our hearts of stone into hearts of flesh. That’s just what happened to me this weekend.

I’ve had some tribulations, but through you all coming here I’m feeling better. Praising and glorifying God has made a change in my life.

God has taken control of my life. He put me here so I could understand who He is.

When guys in the POD ask me “Got candy?” I say “I got GOD!”

I didn’t grow up with a family, so R.E.C. is now my family.

I love the sincerity here. It’s a blessing to look in your eyes and know that you’re telling the TRUTH!
